Ericsson's Global Mobility Report is available as a free download from their site and paints an interesting picture of the Great Divide between the mature (Europe/U.S.) and emerging (Asia/Africa) markets.

Here are some interesting excerpts from the report:
4.3 billion people use mobile phones
Global penetration of mobile subscriptions has reached 91%
Approximately 40% of phones sold in Q3 2012 were smartphones.
Mobile broadband subscription is growing at 55% YoY, with 1.4 billion + connections till date.
The report also has a wealth of information on mobile internet usage, multi-tasking activity on mobile and interaction of video/ TV content with mobile. It is definitely worth spending time to browse the content and understand the implications for our (mobile) networked future.
